Experience
I am experienced as a teacher assistant and student teacher. As a teacher assistant, I worked with middle school students to assist with comprehension of course material and provide one-on-one instruction. As a student teacher, I worked at the high school level as the lead teacher of five classes of English and Language Arts. I designed and implemented curriculum in my subject area, as well as instructed students in ACT preparation and study strategies. I completed and passed all necessary tests for state certification in Michigan and am in the process of doing the same for New York state. I have studied Spanish for 6 semesters at the college level and completed 3 years of Spanish classes before that. I would like to be a tutor because my favorite part of teaching is spending one-on-one time with students and being able to individualize instruction to maximize learning. I love to get to know my students and I use that knowledge to figure out what they need most and how best to help them.
